Dana Reizniece-Ozola was born on the 6th of November 1981 at Kuldiga in Latvia.
She is a Latvian political figure, grand chess master, European champion and the world’s vice-champion, a professional in research sector of space and a mother of four children. Today she is known as one of the leading politician of the “Green and Peasants Union” and since 2016 February she is a financial minister of Latvia.
In 2010 she became as the 10th Parliament deputy for the first time. Coming in politics she showed her as a purposeful and active specialist, working in legal commission of the Parliament, in the commission of European matters and leading education, culture, science commission.
From November 2014 – February 2016 Dana Reizniece-Ozola was economic minister of Latvia. Overcoming some opposition she was able to limit the activity of “fast credit” and liquidate “Gazprom” monopoly position in the gas market of Latvia.
In 2016 the “Green and Peasant Union” taking the lead of the cabinet of ministers, Dana Reizniece-Ozola became finance minister. Wide tax reform, positive changes in the activity of the States Income Service, determined fight with shade economics, minimal salary raising, 0% reinvested profit tax introducing for employers. These are only some victories in political chess what have given big contribution in the raising of competition and society living level of Latvia.
Dana Reizniece-Ozola’s work done being finance minister is noticeable. She is known abroad as well.
Popular newspaper’s “Financial Times” published magazine “The Banker” highly appreciated Dana Reizniece-Ozola’s work in the tax reform relegation awarding her the title “Finance minister in Europe of 2017”. The magazine “Politico” has considered her as one of European leaders in 2016.
