Currently Professor Emerita at Ohio University, living in Columbus, Ohio. She graduated from Ohio State University in 1971 with a Ph.D. in linguistics and course work in psychology and speech and hearing. She is a member of the Acoustical Society of America, Association for the Advancement of Baltic Studies and the Linguistic Society of America. She is also a Foreign Member of Latvian Academy of Sciences. She was a Fulbright Scholar in Riga in 2008.
Dzintra Bond is the author of a monograph: Slips of the Ear: Errors in the Perception of Casual Conversation. (New York: Academic Press. 1999) and co-author with Dace Markus of Ievads Fonologija [Introduction to Phonology]. (Riga: Zinatne, 2014). She has also published in the areas of speech perception, phonetics, phonology and language contact. Currently, she is working with recordings of Latvian made in prisoner of war camps during WW I.
