Born 1958, terminologist and specialist of public health. Graduate of Riga Medical institute at 1982, research associate of Riga Medical institute (now – Riga Stradiņš university) (1982-1992), assistant professor (1993-1998), vice-rector for science and research, Dr.habil.med. (1995).
Professor of public health at University of Latvia (1998-2006), director of the Translation and Terminology Centre, professor of linguistics at Riga Graduate School of Law (2009-2015). Since 2009 director of State Language Centre and since 2016 head of the Terminology Commission of the Academy of Sciences of Latvia. Author of 150 papers (incl. 7 books) about internal medicine, public health, history of science, terminology and language policy.
