Māris Kučinskis

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Latvia (since 11 February 2016). He is leading the 39th Cabinet of Ministers of the State of Latvia.

He was born on 28 November 1961. During his career, Kučinskis has held the position of Chairman of the Valmiera City Council. His professional background also includes experience in the positions of Advisor, Deputy Executive Director and Executive Director of the Latvian Association of Large Cities. He has also served as the Minister for Regional Development and Local Government Affairs and was elected as a member of the 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th Saeima (Parliament).

Māris Kučinskis holds professional qualification in economics from the University of Latvia, Faculty of Management and Economic Information.
