PhD in theory of culture, Rector of the Latvian Academy of Culture, member of Latvian Council of Science, head of the Latvian National Council of Culture, head of the Association of Art Universities of Latvia, representative of Latvia in UNESCO Intergovernmental Commitee for the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions, Professor of the Latvian Academy of Culture, author of more than 50 research publications in Latvia and abroad in the field of theory of culture, ethnology and folkloristics.

CoHERE” (2016-2019). Head of the national research programme “Sustainability of Latvian cultural traditions in an innovative environment. Habitus” (2014-2018).

Spēlēju, dancoju” (2002), “Kaza kāpa debesīs” (2003)) and performances based on Baltic traditional music, has performed in ensemble with folkgroup “Iļģi” and with Valdis Muktupāvels in Latvia and abroad. Soloist in interactive, multidisciplinary project of music, visual art, poetry and sciences “Nature Concerthall” (2007–2013).
